Dairy Kastle in Louisville

Small ice cream place on the corner. Mostly soft serve options. Outdoors eating only. Dog friendly, they have a milk bone doggy treat with water bowl for your four legged friends. Lots of great things to eat. I had the fireman special/Sunday, chocolate cake with ice cream and got chocolate on top. Add whip cream, nuts, and caramel, and let the food coma sweep over you.

Popular place, but worth the wait! Great stop for treats, lunch, and drinks. There are A TON of choices, including vegetarian and vegan options for food and desserts (shakes, ice cream, chili dogs, etc). Very reasonably priced, too - many places charge more for vegan versions of food, but not here. Meat or veggie, it all costs the same. A vegan chili dog combo comes with two dogs and a regular soda or slushie for $3.50. Yes, you read that correctly - $3.50! Not much onsite parking, but plenty of close spots on the side streets nearby. About half a dozen tables and several benches if you want to stick around and eat. No restrooms, so plan accordingly!

Had a tasty delicious Reese's cup flurry tonight. Our cashier had lots of energy even though it was the end of the evening. Cool vibe. I love that it is ice cream season again and it's cool to see lines of people waiting for Kastle treats!

This is a great local ice cream shop. It's great because it's easy to walk to and it's not expensive. The staff is always pleasant and efficient. They have a wide variety of menu items ranging from hot dogs to ice cream cones to shakes and floats. It's the perfect place for something cool on a warm summer day.

Super good milkshakes, not too expensive! Also a great place to take dogs, super friendly and have a little sundae option for them, and they keep water out for pets. Very nostalgic feel overall.

Parking is a challenge, but well worth the extra effort.

The wait is not as long as it looks! When we arrived, it was windy and 59 degrees on a Sunday afternoon. The line was almost to the street, but we decided to wait. The variety of food being sold, hot and cold, was testimony to its overall goodness. We got sherbet/vanilla swirls in sugar cones which were delicious. We have never been disappointed over many years. Thanks to this restaurant for years of service and a recent 100% evaluation!

A seasonal place for great food. Minimal wait time even during a rush. The chili dogs are cheap (under two bucks) and delicious. Stop by if you're craving food like Sonic, but cheaper. Service is fast and the employees take tips; part goes to charity and part goes to them. All in all, a great experience.

Treat yourself. Cash only and give everything on the menu a try. Their hot and cold are all spot on. Service is quick and make sure you get exactly what you want. Don't forget the doggy sundae for your furry friend. This is a treasure in Louisville and the lines speak for themselves

Great local ice cream joint, open seasonally. I recommend the vanilla and orange sherbet swirl. They also have vegan chili dogs, which are really good.

It's been probably 25 years since I stopped here. Got a vanilla ice cream cone dipped in milk chocolate. Just like I remembered. Can't be beat on a blazing hot summer afternoon.... especially when your sugar is low. 😂😎

This is a local favorite for generations. Dairy Castle is the very best in soft serve treats. This is a must-see for anyone who appreciates the ice cream and milkshakes stands of yesteryear.

On family vacation and came across this gem! Super awesome spot for our group of kids and adults. Had to eat there again for dinner tonight after going last night for ice cream.

This is my favorite ice cream place. I love the black cow - basically a chocolate ice cream float with dark soda - my choice is Dr. Pepper. But really, everything here is delicious!

One of the best little icecream shops around , great flavors, big varietie and very reasonable in price... place is always busy !! They also have a pretty good quick lunch !!!

I was here when they opened this little hole in the wall.. years ago.. it never fails to be the best ice cream ever.. large waffle cone vanilla ice cream and chocolate on top..the best...

Bring cash. It's just cheap eats and ice cream, so there's really nothing to complain about. There's usually a line, but plenty of people bring their dogs so I think it balances out.

We come here every year while they are open. They are closed due to COVID 19, but I just want to send a review saying I miss this place more than anything else in Louisville right now!! Stay strong Dairy Kastle!

Haven't had anything here I haven't liked. The ice cream is fantastic and the food is quick to come out as well. They recently reopened and in the post COVID world they are handling it well, requiring masks and have set up lines to use to keep people distanced.

AMAZING food at GREAT prices.

Posting this review the day after they close for the season makes me realize how much I'll miss this place for the next 5 months. Super cheap vegetarian chili dogs and several varieties of vegan ice cream. About 327 flavors of milkshakes so something for everyone.

Great place for a lunch stop or ice cream. Great space to eat outside. This is not gourmet food take it for what it is and enjoy. Unique twist on Frito pie.

I discovered this place about 5 years ago and I've been a local my whole life. With me being a UofL student I'm around Dairy Kastle a lot. I've never had a bad item from here and the staff are friendly!It's a favorite by locals in the city and is worth checking out!

Ice cream/cone was 🔥! Fast service, with a smile, good prices too. $2.50 for a cone that was very nice in size. Highly recommend trying this place out. Parking isn't that great.

Massive portions at miniscule prices. Employees are great, the atmosphere is casual, nested in the suburbs. Parking is tight, you can usually park at the church across the street. The ice cream was delicious. They even have ice cream for dogs. Next time I'm in Louisville, I'll be back.

This place is a must if you're anywhere near it. They've got yummy chili dogs, shakes, soft serve, sundaes, vegan options, floats and more! Make sure you've got cash, they dont accept cards. Bring your buddies, your significant other or your kids, this place is enjoyable for all.

Worst milkshakes ever. If I wanted flavored milk I would have went to the store and bought some. Ridiculously thin, all 3 we bought. What a waste of money. I don't know how this place is rated so high. Will never go here again!

Probably Louisville's most popular walk-up spot. I've always felt that soft-serve was soft-serve and I'm sticking to that - it's what they put on top that makes it special and there really isn't anything exciting too here. Great spot to take the kids or a date and they're super great people as well, but, something is sorely missing from their menu.Yeah, it's good and will do in a pinch, but, their parrot-named competitor across the river has Twinkle Kote, hands down the greatest topping ever, and I'll gladly head twenty minutes out of my way for that any day of the week.

Prices are great, and the ice cream is better! They are all extremely nice and even though there’s always a long line, they move pretty quickly. Well worth the time and money!!!
